The sport of strongman has – quite literally – gone from strength to strength over the last few years. The athletes are BIGGER, BETTER and STRONGER than we’ve ever seen and in 2020, the stage is set to showcase this incredible sport like never before.
The 2020 Tour will be the biggest World’s Strongest Man Arena Tour yet. It includes dates at some of the biggest Arenas across the UK – and a new USA Arena show in Florida.
Darren Sadler, Giants Live Director said:
“It’s incredible to think that just 5 years ago we were holding strongman competitions in gym car parks. We’re a small team here, but we love strongman and we had a vision – to build this sport and give the athletes the stage and the glory they deserve. We’ve put so much blood, sweat and tears into making that happen.
To see strongman in the spotlight, on the world stage in front of thousands of fans – it’s what we live for, and 2020 is going to be the biggest Tour we’ve ever created!”
The 2020 World’s Strongest Man Arena Tour kicks off on January 18th with Britain’s Strongest Man at the Fly DSA Arena, Sheffield.
Each show features 5 gruelling challenges where athletes must hoist giant logs, lift atlas stones… and run with cars… to prove they have what it takes to become the next World’s Strongest Man!
Live audiences of around 10,000 strongman fans makes for an intense and adrenaline-pumped show. The jaw-dropping feats of human power are as inspirational as they are entertaining, with the top 3 athletes at each competition scoring a place at the World’s Strongest Man final.
On 4th April 2020, the Tour comes to Leeds First Direct Arena for Europe’s Strongest Man – a competition that the mighty Thor – the Mountain from Game of Thrones – has won for five years in a row. Can he make it a sixth title in 2020?
Europe’s Strongest Man 2020 will also feature the World Log Lift Challenge as Event 1, with hopefuls like Iron Biby and Graham Hicks hoping to make the history books. Giants Live shows are now well-known for their record breaking action – will we see a new Log Lift World Record in 2020? We’re excited to find out!
The Tour then gets a sprinkling of nostalgia as the Giants head to the Royal Albert Hall for the Strongman Classic on 6th June. The Classic will be the Royal Albert Hall’s first professional weightlifting competition since the famous Great Competition in 1901. Drawing inspiration from the Hall’s earliest generation of weightlifting, the Classic will bring an old-time strongman edge with historic lifts likely to include the Pillars of Hercules, Circus Dumbbell and legendary stone carries.
“We couldn’t ask for a more perfect setting to celebrate the oldest sport in the world. To bring our athletes to this iconic venue and the very same stage where Eugen Sandow once stood – it is a significant moment for the sport and will be the crowning jewel in the 2020 World’s Strongest Man Arena Tour.” – Darren Sadler, Giants Live Director
In previous years, the North American Open has been held in a street format, but in August 2020, the North American Open is getting a show upgrade of epic proportions. The competition will be held in Florida as Giants Live’s first big American Arena show, bringing the electric atmosphere that only the lights, music and roaring Arena crowd can bring.
September then sees the Giants roll into Manchester Arena for the World Open, featuring the World Deadlift Championships on 12th September 2020. Can Eddie’s 500 kilo lift ever be beaten? This is the Arena that will decide!
To complete the year of awesome, the Giants then head to Scotland for the World Tour Finals at Glasgow’s SSE Hydro on 10th October – a brand new tour date and the Giants first ever Scottish show. We cannae wait!
Phew! What a year it is going to be for the sport of strongman! This is live strength sport at its BIGGEST and BEST – there is only one World’s Strongest Man Arena Tour and this is it! Accept no imitations! Join us on the 2020 tour for a sporting spectacle you will never forget!
