On 4 September 2021 almost 7,000 strongman fans filled the First Direct Arena, Leeds, for Europe’s Strongest Man 2021.
With reigning champ Luke Richardson sidelined with injury, it was time to crown a new European King of Strength!
Event 1 was the hotly anticipated World Log Lift Challenge. With Iron Biby dealing with severe travel delays and Tom Stoltman isolating after a positive Covid test, hopes of a new World Record were pinned on Luke Stoltman and Graham Hicks – two of the strongest pressers on the planet.
But nothing comes easy in strongman and it’s been a particularly brutal competition season this year. So Big Z’s log record remains intact (for now, at least). It may not have been the day for records, but the scoreboard after Event 1 certainly led to an intense and dramatic battle – nail-bitingly-close right to the stones finale!

Here’s the moment Luke Stoltman sealed the deal, became Europe’s Strongest Man 2021 and proved why he and brother Tom Stoltman truly are the strongest brothers in the world.
Congratulations also to Ukranian Oleksii Novikov, taking second place just 1.5 points behind Luke, and Britain’s Graham Hicks who came in third place.
