Given the current situation and the government’s latest advice regarding COVID-19, we have been forced to make some very tough decisions.
We know we are not alone in feeling confused and conflicted by the situation that is rapidly developing around us. The Giants Live Team and the First Direct Arena were, until today, still hoping to deliver a contest on April 4th that eclipsed any before it. However, like everyone, we have been monitoring the situation anxiously.
With the UK Government now advising avoidance of non-essential social contact and urging us all to avoid public gatherings, it has become clear that we must do the right thing. Sadly, Europe's Strongest Man which was due to take place on April 4th will be postponed to a new contest date of Saturday, August 8th, 2020.
The health of our fans, crew, athletes – and their families - is at the heart of our decision, not least the fact that due to current travel restrictions, our international athletes are simply unable to cross borders and come to the UK to take part in the competition.
With the very helpful backing of the First Direct Arena, we have been able to secure the alternative date in 5 months time, when the world will hopefully be on top of this problem - and we can put on a tremendous show and much needed party that no doubt we will all be ready for!
In times like this, we are stronger together and we thank you for your wonderful support over the years. We have no other option but to postpone the contest to ensure everyone is safe and also to make sure we truly find the best man, the true ‘Europe's Strongest Man’ of 2020.
All tickets remain valid for then postponed contest date (8th August, 2020).
We know that the Strongman Community will eventually come through this together, stronger than ever - and in the meantime, we hope you all stay safe and well.
